Everything you need to know to plan the adventure of a lifetime.
Sometimes referred to as a combination, outfit, rig, or hack, a sidecar is a one wheeled device attached to the side of a motorcycle, making a three-wheeled vehicle. At West Coast Sidecar, we tour using Ural Sidecar Motorcycles exclusively.
Each of our motorcycle sidecars accommodates up to two (2) passengers plus driver, along with ample space for belongings such as your camera/smartphone and extra clothing. Our sidecar fleet presently consists of two bikes.
We’re committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all our passengers. As such, we require passengers be a minimum of 8 years of age, and have a decent range of motion to tour with us. Our weight limit is approximately 275 pounds (124kg) to ensure the most comfortable ride possible.
Absolutely! This is the law in British Columbia, Canada. Plus, we care about passenger safety and wellbeing and wouldn’t have it any other way. We always keep three helmets with each bike, one for each passenger and one for the driver.
Yes, our sidecars are licensed in British Columbia for passenger transport and insured through ICBC.
Each tour includes multiple stops along the way for photo opportunities or to discover the area. We love customizing tour experiences, so if you have a special request to stop along the tour route, just let your sidecarist know and they’ll do their best to accommodate it.
We can often accommodate tours on short notice; however, if you have limited time in the city, or require a very specific date and time, we recommend contacting us with as much advance notice as possible.
A credit card is required to hold your sidecar for tour time; however, we don’t charge the card on file unless; 1) you choose to use this method of payment for your tour, 2) you cancel without sufficient notice, or 3) no-show (but we know you would never do that). See our cancellation policy below.
If you reserve a sidecar tour, we require a minimum 24 hours’ notice prior to your scheduled tour time, otherwise we will charge 50% of the total tour cost to the credit card on file.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, American Express and (our favourite!) good old cash.
We operate under an intermittent light drizzle, which can be common in Victoria (luckily us humans are waterproof), if it’s a down-pouring the day of your tour, we’ll give you the option to re-book for another time. We understand no one likes a soggy seat.
We offer a variety of seasonally selected tours between the beginning of April and the end of October, with daily departure times available. The rest of the year tours can be arranged subject to availability. We also offer special tours and offerings for holidays, birthdays and other events. Follow us on Facebook or contact us to learn more.

We recommend seasonally-appropriate outdoor attire, depending on the time of year. Regardless of the season we generally recommend bringing an exterior layer such as a windbreaker or shell jacket. We keep a blanket, gloves, heated vests and rain ponchos in our sidecars if you need extra layers in a pinch. If you plan to ride on the back of the motorcycle, we require close-toe shoes to ensure your comfort. We also recommend sunglasses, and sunscreen.
As passenger, you do not require a special license or insurance. We’ve got you covered, so you can just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!
No. Driving a sidecar takes skill, knowledge of the bike and lots of practice, so we insist you let our experienced sidecarists take care of this part.
